Randy Bimestefer has dedicated his career to identifying and addressing the root causes of chronic illness through a holistic approach called Functional Medicine. Randy combines the traditional Chinese medical model with leading scientific research to assist patients in achieving true health through his private practice, education efforts, research, and teaching.
Randy’s interest in health began at a young age due to his own struggles with health issues. He found that the treatments he was given were more for symptom suppression than for the achieving optimal health, and after achieving some measure of success with dietary changes and supplementation, he decided to dedicate his efforts in this direction.
After starting his study of medicine at Duke University, his own health issues again affected Randy. Effective treatments in Western medicine were lacking, triggering Randy’s pursuit of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Finding success by combining the best aspects of “both worlds”, Randy now teaches doctors, students, and the general public in a variety of disciplines including acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition, and others, through his private practice and at The Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, his alma mater.
Randy firmly believes is that we are all responsible for our own health, which leads to the conclusion is that the health care provider has the responsibility to educate first and treat second. The journey to optimal health may include information and practice in either Western or Eastern medical disciplines, depending on what works for that particular patient. He is available to discuss your health issues with you or with any of your other health care providers, and he encourages you to ask questions.
